Pedagogies of Voice: Street Data and the Path to Student Agency

In this dynamic keynote, Shane Safir and Sawsan Jaber will share a framework for instructional transformation from their book Pedagogies of Voice: Street Data and the Path to Student Agency. The framework expands on the bestselling book Street Data to help educators incorporate student voice and agency into powerful designs for learning.

Safir and Jaber will invite participants to reflect on their own experiences as learners and consider the needs and voices of students through specific aspects of the framework. Safir has worked at every level of the education system, from the classroom to the boardroom. After teaching in San Francisco and Oakland, she became the founding principal of an innovative and nationally recognized high school. She now provides leadership coaching, strategic planning, and professional learning support for schools, districts, and organizations across North America and beyond.

Jaber is an educator, author, presenter, strategist, curriculum designer, and keynote speaker who works with schools around the world. Jaber has been awarded Cook County Teacher of the Year, IDEA Teacher of the Year, ISTE 20 to Watch Awardee, and was nominated for Illinois Teacher of the Year.
