Dena is a fellow with the Institute for Learning at University of Pittsburgh. With a K-12 background, Zook-Howell provides professional development in both elementary and secondary ELA and coaching in districts across the country. The art and science of coaching is her primary focus; she was recently the coach for a three-year IES grant to study web-based coaching.

There is always someone nearby or at your table who can help process new ideas or help you think about how what you’re hearing applies to your work. The balance of research and application is really nice. Getting to hear from top authors about their current projects helps me feel very informed so that I can feel abreast of current trends in the professional learning field.
